Well here it is - it took me a while to upload it and please let me know if it doesn't work.....
This is the first of three versions of this piece, each becoming progressively more complex. It's not long, about 46 seconds. I'll tell you more about it later today, but I'd be interested to hear what you think.

Thank you for visiting my blog and posting here. I managed to get sound onto the blog mostly by trial and a LOT of error. First of all I had made a CD of the music, but when you go to UPload Media on the blog, it won't let you take directly from the CD. So I went into My Computer, then the CD drive, and copied the tracks into my Music folder. After that it was confusing. Windows Media lets you copy the track (I was forever pressing help buttons) in a compressed form. THen it was back into BLog Media and uploading from there - I think something called Net Publishing Wizard from Windows came up at one point and I tried following that through. Nobody was more surprised that I was when it worked.
If nothing I've written works for you I would just play around with getting the track you want from CD to computer folder and then use Help in Windows to try and publish to the Web. I went round and round in circles for ages! Good luck!

What instrument is it?

On the keyboard I used a harpsichord sound, which was the nearest I could get to what was in my head. THere were a number of different keyboard instruments around in the late 17th to early 18th centuries. I began by working out what it wasn't (!) and gradually narrowed it down from there.

It felt more like a dance than a song. I saw someone playing the harpsichord by a window , sunlight streaming in , people dressed in blue grey silver colours, dancing in a playful way and a little dog running between them.I got a s sense of a family entertaining themselves.
Amazing how you got that on here too ... crcikey ..kudos to you Mrs P ! x

I forgot to mention .. it was during the time of Mozart .. 1770 ....

I felt it was a little earlier than that. Probably no later than 1740 - but maybe that was just me.

Not sure about the time , except that I heard " Mozart " he was born aroun 1750 ,, I did not get a definite date .

I think he was 1756 - 1791... I would have made the music no later than 1740... and nothing like as good as his! 
I would have said 17th or 18 century as well. I've not heard music before, how interesting. I have seen flashes of a house and a child and another flash of a brick wall side of something. That is all though.

I've been getting music coming through for many years, since I was about 13. At first it was really frustrating because I wanted to write it down but couldn't. Eventually I got the hang of reproducing some pieces, but I have to be quick and drop everything in order to do it. Even now, some pieces are more like concerts!

Pro That's excellent... should it have been played on a clavichord? I'm not sure, but I think the sound is 'gentler'... if that makes sense?

That's an interesting point Usky - and I did actually hesitate before using the harpsichord setting on the keyboard. But the sound I could hear in my head had that sharp edge (I think it was THomas Beecham who described the sound of the harpsichord as two skeletons copulating on a tin roof) that only the harpsichord (or at least my keyboard's setting of it) could provide.
In answer to your question - believe me there are loads of things I can't do!

Pro Ummm... are you sure Beecham said "copulating"? You're right of course, or he was, the harpsichord does have that hard sound.
I'll have to take your word for the other things.

It does... and I did wonder about the clavichord.... this is a problem with using keyboards, you have to rely on their soundbanks. I have a real piano in the house but not a clavichord, virginals or harpsichord.
My Beecham quote may well have been paraphrased!

I've never played a virginals... (shhh! - stop it!). I know where there's a spinet though...

Thank you Usky! It could well have been a spinet I heard, since it was a popular domestic instrument. Unfortunately my keyboard doesn't do spinets!

Pro I don't know any that do... although I used to have a Yamaha synthesiser in the studio that could emulate anything once a sample had been obtained.

I did actually get to play a spinet once (in this life, I mean! ) it was a lovely instrument.

I don't think I am channelling - I get the strong impression that this is music I have actually heard before, in another life. THis particular piece came, I think, from a life as a music teacher, and I have the strong feeling it was written to play with my pupils.

Sounds good. quite up beat and medieval. I could almost see the ladies of the court dancing around the King's banquet table

Glad you enjoyed it - I think it's later than the middle ages... probably somewhere between 1680 and 1740 though that's just my opinion!
