Lucky White Rabbits

by tylluanpenry @ Tuesday, 01. Apr, 2008 - 08:41:02

For those of you seeking a change from the usual 'Lucky White Rabbits' here is Mr Penry's version. Every first of the month he prises his eyelids open and mutters 'Feckin' white deckers' instead.

This has been going on for years and years and I still haven't got to the bottom of it......;)

Very little, Jack. First thing in the morning he is usually a man of few words ;)

You reminded me of how one of our cats used to catch young rabbits and devour most of them on the kitchen floor.

He used to leave a neat set of back feet, ears and the green wobbly bit from the offal. Just the thing to step in in bare feet whilst making bleary-eyed early morning tea.

We used to remark about the lucky rabbit's feet not being very lucky for their former owner...

Uch y fi! That must have been one fierce cat! One of our St Bernards used to regularly catch and eat pigeons. He only ever ate the breast, and left the rest for us to clean up!

Well it's certainly different!

I have some back story to catch up on clearly. But Mr Penry is Irish? My Mr P is also of Irish origin. His father claimed to be half hobgoblin. It was more the story that his mother had a war time bunk up and couldn't recall who with, we suspect. But his Irish name means dark head (I prefer to put it that way rather than black head)...and he is very dark indeed and clever. There's often a touch of darkness in clever....

I love the idea of being half hobgoblin. My Mr P is Welsh, through and through, a proper valleys boy, although according to him he's English (only listen to him speak and you'll believe it is night in Llareggub again...) And unlike your Mr P, mine was red, rather than dark... the ancient Egyptians used to beware red headed men, and I rather suspect they had Mr Penry in mind when they first came up with this idea...:)
