My 'Seeking the Green' website (which was hosted through orange) has disappeared. Orange didn't tell me about it.
I had this site for years and am pretty cross. Can anyone recommend a good (and preferably free) new website host?

Small-ish world!!
Thanks for the link, Mira!
Thanks, La Spice, I shall investigate freewebs tomorrow! Thanks for the link, too!
How annoying ! Can Orange help you retreive the content ?
I've also experienced similar loss . I used to have an online journal on Oprah.com , but when they changed their whole site , this was lost. I've tried emailing them without success ![]()

Unfortunately in my experience, contacting Orange is like trying to contact the Other Side.... I've just decided to go elsewhere.
Not sure of any myself, but good luck with that.
Thank you!
Sorry to hear your website has disappeared. Has Orange given any form of explanation?
No, but it's usually pretty useless, in my experience, to attempt to get any sense out of them. I originally started my site when it was Freeserve, then it became Wanadoo and finally Orange... each change saw a definite deterioration in service ![]()
Having not heard from you here or at Weathercheck we hope that nothing is amiss, healthwise and otherwise.
Hi Skip, sorry I've not been around much lately, I've just been feeling pretty washed out. Another visit to a different doctor - hopefully things will be sorted (or even taken seriously) soon....![]()
I received an email from orange on 02/07/08 saying:
"We just wanted to let you know that on Monday 28th July we’re closing our old Sitebuilder and FTP My Site.
In its place we’ve launched a fabulous new tool called Orange Website Maker, which allows you to do loads more stuff. It’s important that if you want to keep your site, you need to migrate over to this new tool...
You’ll need to have migrated your existing site over to our new Orange Website Maker by 28th July
If you don’t migrate over, you could lose the information you have on your site."
Not much notice!!!
A site a lot of my friends like is http://www.mrsite.com.

Look at freewebs.com I'm not sure whether that will work for you.
There's a limit on the number of pages (for freebies) so I got round it by arranging my poems in groups/volumes and cross referencing.
I started a mini series there - here's an example http://www.freewebs.com/poet2/
