  • psychic self defence... more suggestions

In dealing with psychic attackers, we find they usually fall into several different categories. There are those who genuinely want to do harm in a physical sense, those who want to frighten, and those who want to drain. All however have one thing in commong - they want to dominate their victims.

So to avoid becoming a victim, or at least lessen its effects (which can be quite horrible) you have to find ways of preventing others from being able to dominate you. In effect they are overcoming your will - so it is with your own will that you must start on your defences.

Some people are stronger willed than others, it's true. Some will never change their opinions, rightly or wrongly, while others will shift like the wind. A will that is too strong can often prove brittle when it is tested, while one that is too weak can be easily overcome. Our self will really deserves better than that.

But how do psychic attackers reach us? If we're dealing with them face to face, it's usually through the third eye - that invisible area in the forehead, just above the nose.

Watch them and you'll see they either stare at you (which is setting up a connection from you to them, a way of getting inside your head if you like!) or they close their eyes when speaking (this can often be disguised as rubbing the eyes, but it serves the same effect.) Closing the eyes prevents you from setting up any kind of connection to them, which is another way of dominating you, since it makes all conversation a one way system.

But how do people become psychic dominators from a distance? I once had a piece of furniture in my room that made me very uneasy. I couldn't quite put my finger on it, but it gave me the sensation of being watched. Eventually, one day I decided to strip all the paint off and varnish it instead.

It was then I discovered what had been done. THe previous owner was well into occult matters, and had painted eyes (rather like the ones you find on ancient Egyptian coffins) all over the wood and then painted over it.

It took a lot of effort to remove the eyes (not to mention the sandpaper!) but once they were gone, and the piece was blessed and cleansed, there were no more problems.

So the idea of an 'eye' can be quite interesting... the attacker literally seems to be 'looking' at us, and one old word for hexing was to 'overlook' someone.

I think this often happens on the internet too. We can sometimes feel 'overlooked.' Too many photos of ourselves, (or others) are not a bad thing per se, but combined with people who try to dominate, they can be utter dynamite.

And of course, with the internet you don't have the normal social reaction that you get when there is some sort of physical contact. You can be whoever you want in cyberspace. Which makes those who dominate potentially more powerful, while those who find themselves being dominated become considerably weaker.

All food for thought - and more to come!

If there is any particular of this subject you would like me to deal with, please do let me know. For confidentiality, you can always pm me.

  • Mr Penry strikes again!

Today I was going to blog about psychic self defence, thought forms etc., until I spotted Mr Penry filling in his postal voting form. Being a fully paid-up member of the awkward brigade, Mr Penry takes this sort of thing very seriously. He waits until all the political literature has arrived, reads it all, covers it in graffiti (you'd be amazed how much better some of the candidates look with biroed in moustaches, horns and fangs) and finally, after much deliberation casts his vote.

Voting is top secret in our house. BUT, I did notice that Mr Penry was doing a lot of doodling on the back of an envelope before packing up his postal vote. When he had left the kitchen, I seized my opportunity to see what he had been doing.

This is what I found. A page full of variants of his signature, all with accompanying tags. There was the 'Flamboyant signature.' The 'Psychopathic signature' [don't ask ] The 'Eccentric signature' and the 'Grovelling little git Signature.'

    And then there were these....

    The St Bernard Signature....
    signature st bernard

    The Runic Signature...
    runic signature

    The Morse Code Signature....
    signature morse code

And Finally, for the completely desperate, the Emergency signature....
    emergency signature

It's so good to see democracy in action.....

  • Psychic attacks - thought forms

In my last post, I talked a little bit about how negativity damages our auric field. In particular I was referring to constantly negative verbal attacks.

Now I want to look a little more closely at how this works. It might seem strange, but most of us create thought forms every single day of our lives. Whenever we exercise our minds we create thoughts, and these are the seed from which thought forms grow.

You see, it’s hard to think of anything without becoming emotionally involved in some way. Most people associate emotions with the more extreme feelings such as anxiety, anger, stress, jealousy, but even relatively peaceful feelings, such as when we meditate, create their own thoughts.

Most of our thoughts are fleeting. We create the thought, we give it our attention, sometimes we return to it again and again, but it’s rare that we concentrate on it constantly. Of course there are people who brood on things far more than is good for them, and it is these people who often inadvertently create frightening thought forms. Usually, they are horrified at the results, too!

A thought form is basically a small, warped mirror. Most disappear in a few hours, but some are capable of attacking their creators and others can be made to exert their influence (for better or worse) on other people.

I believe that the Christian concept of praying for other people is just a method of sending out a thought form to protect a loved one, instructing it to weaken any negative forces around that person. However, the success of this approach does depend upon what sort of aura the person has. Beneficial, healing thoughts will work much better on people who already have good positive vibrations in their aura, while malevolent thoughts will attach themselves more easily to people who already entertain similar vibrations.

Another way of looking at thought forms is to see them as a magnet... they draw things towards them. In this case, what they attract is more of the same. So if you create a thought form from anger, it will automatically attract all the other angry thought forms in the immediate area.

But that's not the end of it. Out in the world is something called the elemental essence, which can pick up on these discarded thoughts, and give them some sort of physical existence. The elemental essence is a half intelligent life form. It needs animation which comes from human thought. This allows the thought to become a living being. Then, once these thoughts break away from the mental and physical body, they go looking for a damaged aura they can attach themselves to.

What they are looking for is a person who produces similar types of thoughts and emotions. The effect they will have for example, is that you may be overwhelmed with a feeling of despair without ever knowing the precise nature of the despair that generated the original thought.

People who habitually think dark, unpleasant thoughts may, albeit unknowingly, have a negative and detrimental effect on those around them. Now you can begin to see where the idea of exerting a bad influence on another person comes from.

Another problem with thought forms is that there is a risk they will attack their creator. Sometimes they can’t help this especially if the thought form has been created from an extreme and negative emotion, such as hatred or jealousy. Constant thoughts such as this imprint themselves onto our astral body, and when the thoughts finally leave us, they will, as I have said, go in search of something similar to which they can attach themselves. If they don’t travel very far, then that nearest ‘something’ is going to be you especially if you are relaxing and your mind is not alert.

Luckily, thought forms don’t last for ever. Many people claim that once you stop thinking about something it ceases to exist in the psychic world. This is a little optimistic. They cease to exist once the originating thought has lost its energy.

Unless of course, they have been picked up by someone else’s mental energy, or the originator of the thought keeps on generating more energy to fuel the thought form.

  • Psychic self defence: A little more on the why and how of verbal attacks

When I do talks about psychic self defence, I always mention verbal attacks. Although normally I'm a pretty down to earth person who always believed that for something to be a psychic attack there had to be :
    1. Evidence of psychic activity
    and
    2. Evidence of an actual attack

verbal attacks seem to have a field of their own. THis might be in part due to the increased use of swear words that in my day you never heard and only rarely encountered as anonymous graffiti (usually in the school toilets, should you ever be brave or desperate enough to venture into one.)

Make no mistake though, language can do immense damage. So can constant criticism unless you have some means of dealing with it on a psychic level. This last bit is important, because not everyone is affected in the same way. Some people are deeply hurt, wounded even, while others seem to take it in their stride.

Since we cannot stop these sort of attacks altogether, it seems to make sense to try and find ways to allow the words to just roll off us, like water off a ducks back.

The other reason it pays to be aware of these attacks is because if we're not careful we can also - weirdly - attack ourselves. Still scary.

But it's true - if you are constantly negative, always looking for the worst life has to offer, never expecting anything good to happen…. Then one of these days you will end up hexing yourself. You probably won’t even realise you’re doing it.

The problem is that negativity is very damaging. Never mind where it comes from - it can come from outer space for all I care! It's when it reaches us that it does the damage.

You see what negativity does is to damage our auric field. What’s an auric field? Ask ten people, you’ll get 12 different explanations. Here’s mine…. The auric field is the physical and etheric body combined. Still no wiser? Don't worry... think of it as an outer glow around us –a protective shell. And when we or other people are constantly negative, we damage it.

The damage starts off as the odd pinhole, - over the years these multiply and join up and suddenly you’ve got a hole the size of a rugby ball. Then the fun starts.

This is because any similar negative influences anywhere nearby - and there are always a couple of them floating around – get attracted to this damaged area and latch onto it. You’ve invited them in. And then you’ve got problems.

So next time you're tempted to say things like 'That's just my luck...' or 'that sort of thing always happens to me...' stop. Take a deep breath.

Stop it from becoming a self fulfilling prophecy.

  • Witchfest South 2009 psychic self defence

I've always been fond of psychic self defence... perhaps having come from a family tradition that practised hexing to the exclusion of just about everything else, I found a certain comfort in finding ways to combat them.

It's always an interesting topic for a talk, however, and I love hearing people's different experiences afterwards.

I usually try and outline the different types of psychic attack and how to recognise them. One of the most interesting methods of attack is using constant criticism to wear people down. It may not start out as an attack, but if it happens often enough, it can morph into one.

Forget the old saying 'Sticks and Stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me.' Words can actually do us a great deal of harm because they force someone else’s negativity onto us. So if we’re not careful we become like sponges, mopping it all up.

It's amazing how many people identify with this type of attack, and I'm beginning to suspect that a large proportion of psychic attacks must be related to it. It's unpleasant, destructive - and very unpleasant if you're on the receiving end!

The good news is that there are a number of difference methods for psychically defending yourself against this sort of attack. In fact, it's one of the easiest to resist, although it does take some stamina and persistence.

So in the talk I outlined the various sorts of psychic weaponry we can use (shields, swords etc.) to defend ourselves. Sometimes people feel all this is a bit to violent, pointing out that psychic weapons are just as dangerous as real ones. This is quite true – with one important difference – many people are carrying and using psychic weapons without even realising it – something you can’t do with a real weapon.

To go out into the world psychically unarmed is to invite attack. Believe me, I know. People do it because they can so often get away with it. Bullies always pick their victims.
    :)

  • Witchfest South.... the paintings...

For some reason, I forgot to take photos of the paintings I did for the Witchfest last weekend. Suffice to say there were three of them, one in watercolour, two in pastel.

Why do I do them? Well, it's partly because I remember what it's like to go to an event and have to scrape together an entrance fee, leaving me with nothing to spend. And because I remember that, I want to give something back to the people who are kind enough to come and hear me rabbiting on about 'life, the universe, and everything....' ;)

Also, I love painting, always have. But lately with my eyesight going down the drain, it's been quite a challenge. I thought at one point that it would be impossible. But no. The weirdest thing seems to have happened.

I paint now using what I know, what I sense rather than what I can see. I 'know' in my mind what the colour should be, even though I can't really see it any more. Painting now is not just about what the eye can see, but also about what the mind knows and what the spirit senses. Mad, I know, but true.

In a way it's as though my spiritual path has taken a dramatic shift, away from what I know and can test and verify for myself towards what I can sense. And the funny thing is that my paintings seem to have improved.

I'm told they're brighter, more vibrant, even though I can't really judge colour properly like I used to. All right, I can't put in the detail I once did, but I can get an atmosphere in a whole new way.

Which really all goes to show how life takes with one hand and gives with the other.

I still wish I'd photographed the paintings, though!

  • Witchfest South 2009

Well, I'M back from this year's Witchfest South, held at Stanley Halls in South Norwood. It was a great experience and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I conducted a brief, informal and hopefully happy blessing ceremony at the opening of the Witchfest, and then did two talks, one on psychic self defence which is something of a passion of mine, and another entitled 'Magic for stealing a phallus...and finding it again.'

The audiences at both talks were really lovely, and the atmospere there was great. I said 'hello' to Cassandra Eason - who really is a very warm and friendly person, and also met Rufus and Melissa Harrington who are both Alexandrian/Gardnerian Wiccans.

I always find it a bit nerve wracking knowing what to do for a blessing ceremony. Partly this is because the audience at a Witchfest comes from such a wide variety of backgrounds, and I don't want to leave people out or make them feel excluded.

That said, I think blessings are very important not least because they are good for the person giving the blessing and for the person receiving it.

I began by encouraging everyone to look around, to smile at the people around them, to greet them in welcome and to say:

Welcome to my left! Welcome and bless you for coming!
Welcome to my right! Welcome and bless you for coming!
Welcome to those who stand behind me! Welcome and bless you for coming!
And to all here today! Welcome and bless you for coming!

After that we said the following lines together:

Father Sky honoured be, (hands outstretched to sky)
Mother earth blessed be, (hands towards earth)
We arise and welcome thee.(hands in supplication)

And then we invoked the guardians of the compass points, to ask their help to make this a very special, blessed day for each and every one of us. Now the problem I had here was that I had forgotten to bring a compass, and at one point, Merlyn (who organises the Children of Artemis who actually run this event) and I were leaning out of a window trying to work out which way was north. Of course, since it was a cloudy day, there was no help from the shadows, and I couldn't even get close enough to a tree (the south side of a tree has more branches than the north. I think I learned that on a Ray Mears survival programme years ago!)

Luckily, members of the audience seemed to know exactly which way was north, so then we said the following together, turning for each of the compass points:

Guardians of the North, bless this day,
Keep us grounded in all we do and think and say.

Guardians of the East, bless this day,
Teach us to fly like the wind in all we do and think and say.

Guardians of the South, bless this day,
Make us blaze with shining love in all we do and think and say.

Guardians of the West, bless this day,
Teach us to go with the flow of life, in all we do and think and say.

Silver Goddess, mother of the stars, loving and serene,
Great Wise God of seasons, Lord of all the Green,
This is our very special day,
May joy and love fill our hearts,
In all we do and think and say.

    Bless you all!
    Bless us all!

Over the next few days I'll blog more about my talks at the Witchfest

  • Getting ready for the Witchfest

Well, I'm off to the Witchfest soon. Leaving the day after tomorrow and staying overnight on Friday. I'm doing two talks, one on psychic self defence, and another on Magic for stealing a phallus - and finding it again. I am also doing the opening blessing ceremony and a book signing. What more could Tylluan possibly want? ;)

So all in all, it promises to be a hectic few days and I'm really looking forward to it. It's a great opportunity to meet lots of new friends, plus catch up with some old ones. And I get to chat with Julia and Jon, my publishers, which is always fun.

I may not be around much until after the weekend now and then I'll try to catch up again.

Hope all my blogfriends are keeping well!

  • One of those days....

You get them sometimes, days that start off weird and then get ever weirder. I suspect this may be one of them.

Here I am, trying to put the finishing touches to my talk for this Saturday's Witchfest in London. THe subject is 'Magic for Stealing a Phallus and finding it again' which is a bit weird in itself.

I've tried to be kind to myself this week, avoiding the very early morning starts that I usually have just to try and get my writing done. Last night we watched a DVD of ZULU with Stanley Baker and Michael Caine and I should have known it was a bad choice when Homer, our Basset Hound started showing an unhealthy interest in all the fighting.

Well this morning I went downstairs to let the dogs out... it was bright and sunny all was well with the world. I opened the side gate and off they went into the garden.

I then checked because for the past two days there has been a very large, very sleepy bumble bee crawling around the yard. Today he'd scrabbled a few yards and climbed up onto a high cobbled area round the side of the house.

Two things happened then. Firstly, a very proud Homer came racing back carrying a dead RAT all bloodied and ghastly, clamped between his jaws. He threw this down at my feet fully expecting great praise and preferably, half a pound of good steak as a reward. In his view killing a rat was the equivalent of holding Rorke's Drift against a horde of angry Zulus.

Instead I screamed, swore, and then screamed a bit more before getting newspaper, and clearing the offending corpse away, retching all the while. (Mr Penry claims he heard nothing untoward, however )

    HOMER LOOKING APPEALING

Homer eyed me in amazement and a certain amount of disgust. Then he started to sulk.

Next thing, Benny, one of our other dogs who had obviously witnessed the whole thing came staggering up onto the cobbled area and proceeded to vomit. The bee went ballistic and started staggering round in circles trying to avoid getting drenched.

    Ben and the Poppies

After that, anything else is quite normal....

  • Getting a sense of proportion

Another visit to another hospital today, about my eyes. And basically there isn't much they can say. I have a problem. I will always have a problem. Sometimes it will be worse. Sometimes my brain will compensate (providing it doesn't go off for a dirty weekend in Brighton) and sometimes it won't.

I felt a bit down about it at first. Yesterday I went to the Post Office to post off some letters and managed to hold up the entire queue (and rip an envelope in the process) because I just couldn't grip the envelopes properly. Luckily, the girl behind the counter was great and helped me, even putting sellotape on the rip so the contents didn't fall out.

Sometimes I feel that my world is getting smaller and smaller. It's not a very nice feeling. And yet.... it could be so much worse.

Imagine, I thought, if I couldn't tell Mr Penry or my children that I love them?
Imagine, I thought, if I couldn't hear Mr Penry or my children tell me that they love me?

It's important to get a sense of proportion, I tell myself. There is no miracle cure waiting for me. I've just got to learn to live with it all.

And the world is just going to have to put up with me.
